OLM
open level masterclass

$50/session, 10 participants
2.5 hours
location: Ripley Grier, 520 8th Avenue

Have an audition coming up and need to rehearse with an audience? Want to up your performance level at karaoke? Struggle with debilitating performance anxiety and just want some practice running your rep in front of an encouraging, uplifting audience while receiving some top-notch feedback? Then Open Level Masterclass is for you!

Currently offered bi-monthly, the OLM provides singers with 7-10 minutes to run through a song of their choice, receive feedback and technical tips from me on how to make their singing easier, as well as helpful performance feedback from the rest of the group. We’ll vocalize as a group before we begin, then singers will practice their songs one at a time until the entire group has had a chance to perform for each other. There is currently one general OLM and one themed class; the theme is selected by the participants. Classes are filmed, and participants can choose to keep their performance footage (+$6).

MM+
masterclass magic plus

$70/session, up to 4 participants
1.5 hours
location: Ripley Grier, 520 8th Avenue, or 560 W 43rd St.

Functions like the OLM but with fewer participants (exactly 4) for those seeking more time with even greater attention to detail in their work. MMP is designed to be customizable to the needs of the participants.

If you have a group of friends seeking to work on similar technical or performance goals, you can craft a class together based around those goals. Want to solely focus on breathing? How about how to interact with your pianist at an audition? Maybe you want to focus on drawing on the musical cues in the score to enhance your performance. Whatever your goals, I’m here to help you reach them. If you are flying solo and still want that individualized attention, snag a spot anyway and see which inspiring humans will end up in your session.

  • We have 2.5 hours, and I can accommodate up to 14 of us within that time.

This means our breakdown of the evening will go like this:

    Activity/Introductions/Goal Share

    Group Vocalizing/Warm-up

Masterclass Time! (7-10 minutes per singer)

If you’ve never done a masterclass before, you’ll quickly realize that the only thing more exciting than getting up to sing yourself is watching other people have breakthroughs in their own work!

  • It’s your time - how do you want to use it? Some singers prefer to jump right in, sing their cut/song straight through, and then get some feedback. This is great for some audition/performance practice (exactly what you may want), but it will also limit your time for feedback. Or you may want to vocalize the register you’ll use most (if it’s a big mix-belt song, you may want to request a mix-belt exercise first), then sing the song straight through. Some people want to sing the hardest/most challenging part of the song and then spend their time getting coached on it. The world is your oyster, so pick what works best for you and your needs!=

There is no preset order, so be ready to sing! The more you debate whether or not you should get up and sing, the less time you actually have to do it! Get on up there! That being said, if you have a desire to go first/last/middle, just let me know and I’m sure we can make that happen.

  • All good! If something suddenly comes up that demands your attention and you’ve already paid, you can transfer your payment to your next class, but only once. After that, you’ll need to pay for the next class.

  • Do you, babe! If you have to leave early/arrive late, just please do so quietly and respectfully, like not in the middle of someone's song.

  • Nope! Obviously, that’s an eventual goal for anything you’re going to perform, but if you want your music, no worries! Make sure you have a copy of your music or are prepared to read it from something else other than over my shoulder ;)

  • Don’t overthink this one - but please be thinking about what exactly it is you want to accomplish by singing in this masterclass! The more specific the better. It could be as simple as “I want more clarity on my high notes” or “I really want to make it through that one long phrase in my song in front of a crowd” or “I want to test my memorization.” Something specific and achievable.

what our squad has to say…

"A class with Aidan is the perfect example of singing your troubles away. However bad your day was, once you get there, his magic will wash it away. Not only have I been witness to Aidan's magic on other people, I have been the subject of such power…. there's a reason why his hashtag is #aidanmakesmagic.”

“I’ve been studying with Aidan for just over four years. When I first started, I wanted a post-work disconnect and to get back into a hobby I loved so much when I was younger. Four years later, the confidence I continue to build on helps me feel connected, confident and present, especially at work. I have the strongest voice I could’ve ever imagined on stage and off.”

JULES

“I would not be the singer I am today without my Masterclass Magic lessons, nor would I have been able to book the Tina Turner National Tour. I walked into Masterclass Magic hoping to get a bit more confident in my abilities as a singer, but I walked out with so much more. In preparing for my Tina tour audition I went from not believing I was capable of being in such a vocally rigorous show to fiercely tackling every hurdle in my way thanks to Aidan. Working through my audition cuts once a week in my sessions gave me the tools and confidence I needed to be my best self in the audition room. It truly is magic!

REYNA

“I have been taking voice lessons for nearly 20 years, and this class still helped me to learn something new about my voice. Aidan creates a fun and supportive environment that makes it easy and exciting to try new things without feeling self-conscious. The Masterclass was a great way to discover new things about my voice in an empowering space.”

ANDREW

“Aidan has the skill, but always leads with his heart first - he makes you feel at ease before you start to sing a note. His charm together with his teachings is why I keep coming for more. Having done three masterclasses now, I really feel like my performance anxiety has improved so much! It’s been great to see my growth in this area!”
